OB Section Seminar: Prof Bradley D Smith

18 September 2018, 4.00 PM - 18 September 2018, 5.00 PM

Lecture Theatre 4

Professor Bradley Smith of the University of Notre Dame, USA will be giving a lecture entitled “Supramolecular Chemistry Using Tetralectam Macrocycles: Biological Imaging to Gold Mining”

Professor Brad Smith is a leading figure in supramolecular chemistry, known for his focus on real-world applications.   In particular he has shown how supramolecular interactions can be exploited to construct selective and stable probes for biomedical imaging and diagnostics.  This has led, for example, to ultra-sensitive detection of viruses and tools for labelling tumour cells in cancer surgery.  He has also contributed to inorganic chemistry, as indicated in his title.  For more information on Brad’s research, see:  https://chemistry.nd.edu/people/bradley-d-smith/ and http://smithgroup.nd.edu/

Prof. Smith is hosted by Tony Davis, Anthony.Davis@bristol.ac.uk
