Professor Ian Manners has won the 2012 Royal Society of Chemistry Peter Day Award for his "pioneering contributions to functional metal-containing polymers, block copolymer assemblies and crystallisation-driven living self-assembly processes."

The Peter Day Award is for outstanding contributions to, and advancement of, the field of Materials Chemistry.  The award alternates between those specialising in the broad areas of soft matter and of continuous lattice solids.

As well as the £2,000 prize money and a medal the recipient is invited to give a series of lectures around the UK.
