Enantioselective Rhodium(III)-Catalyzed Markovnikov Hydroboration of Unactivated Terminal Alkenes

Professor Varinder Aggarwal, Research Officer Eddie Myers, Postdoctoral Research Associate Beatrice Collins, Chemical Synthesis CDT PhD student James Smith, former Chemical Synthesis CDT PhD student Matthew Hesse and collaborators from AstraZeneca, have recently had a paper published in the Journal of the American Chemical Society.

This work outlines the first example of an enantioselective hydroboration of simple unactivated (non-styrenyl, no directing groups) terminal alkenes and makes use of a novel mixed diboron species.
