Research summary

My current research forms part of the NERC-funded DOMAINE project (Dissolved Organic MAtter IN freshwater Ecosystems), which aims to characterise the nature, origins and ecological significance of dissolved organic matter in freshwater ecosystems. 

We believe that a molecular level approach is required to fully quantify functional pool sizes and to truly understand the fate and ecological significance of organic nutrients in freshwaters. As a result, the main focus of my work is to address the following research questions:
