Prof. Julian Eastoe has been a full faculty member of in the School of Chemistry in the University of Bristol UK since 1993. He was appointed to a Personal Chair in 2004.
His research interests span colloids, surfactants and applications of neutron scattering.
Key research contributions have been made to the area of neutron scattering and colloidal systems. Over 260 articles have been published: recent work has featured in Angewantde Chemie, New Scientist and American Chemical Society and Royal Society of Chemistry press releases. His papers have received >6700 citations (~ 26 per paper) and he has an H-index of 43.
One of his recent papers Magnetic Control over Liquid Surface Properties with Responsive Surfactants (paper # 219), published in Angewandte Chemie received extensive coverage on the on TV, radio, in the press and on the internet with an estimated reach of 1 billion people.
Eastoe is the permanent Chair of the major International Colloids Conference series held in Amsterdam May 2011 and July 2015.
He is winner of the 2007 Rideal Medal from the UK Royal Society of Chemistry and Society for Chemical Industry for "distinction in colloid or interface science".
