Research Interests
My research focuses on the reception of foreign polities in Archaic Greece. I focus on some of the most well-known ancient texts, including Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey, and Herodotus’ Histories. Rather than reading these texts as literary works I am analysing them as works of reception of foreign systems of government, in order to determine Archaic Greek notions of social organisation.
I have secondary interests in mythography, Orientalism, and visual culture.
