Vulnerable young people’s happiness and prospects are being undermined because too little is done to ease one of the major transitions of their lives – that from primary to secondary school. Two complementary studies launched today [27 January] call for more action to bridge the damaging primary-secondary divide.

Measuring diversity in England's schools - A new web resource

A website launched today - www.measuringdiversity.org.uk - by the Centre for Market and Public Organisation (CMPO) sheds new light on ethnic segregation in England's schools. For the first time, everyone will have access to an online resource that makes it possible to look in detail at segregation in each Local Authority in England. Users will also be able to follow trends over the past seven years, up to 2008, the most recently available data.

Sonia Bhalotra joins WHO Scientific Group

Sonia Bhalotra has been appointed to a new Scientific Resource Group on Health Equity Analysis and Research at the World Health Organisation (WHO). Some 15-20 members have been selected from amongst academia, NGOs and government on the basis of their knowledge and expertise on equity and health.
