Extended projects

The extended research project is a three-month research project (previously six-months) that all students complete in the second half of the taught component of study. As well as giving students the opportunity to conduct a piece of novel research work, the extended project helps to prepare them for the start of their PhD research project. In many cases students choose to continue their extended research project as their PhD project.

Being able to do a different XP in the chemistry department enabled me to pick up different techniques and ways of pursuing a research project, whilst also helping me to build a network of useful contacts within the university.
