The Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol

Visiting Bristol

The Bristol area has much to offer visitors, who find an interesting mix of business, cultural and leisure opportunities in this busy, modern, regional centre.

There is a strong sense of history in the city, with plenty of evidence of a rich maritime trading past, although today the inner city docks are largely devoted to leisure and cultural pursuits, with waterfront cafes, bars and galleries.

Isambard Kingdom Brunel left large footprints on the city. His famous Clifton suspension bridge spans the Avon Gorge, and his iron ship, the SS Great Britain, has been lovingly restored in the dry dock where she was built.
