Welcome to the Centre for Personal and Professional Development (CPPD)

Closure of the Centre for Personal and Professional Development

As part of a wider review of its activities to ensure the University of Bristol is best equipped to play its part in addressing future teaching and research needs, locally and globally, the University has reviewed the role of the Centre for Personal and Professional Development and has decided that the Centre will not recruit to any of its programmes again, including the short course programme, and that it will close once the current cohorts of students have completed their studies in 2013.

The decision to close the Centre for Personal & Professional Development was not judged on the academic quality of its programmes, its credibility or its value to the therapeutic field.  However, due to the closure of the School of Applied & Community Health Studies, within which CPPD sits, and much wider issues, it was not possible to relocate CPPD elsewhere within the University of Bristol

Foundation Degree in Counselling

For new entrants from 2011 the FdSc in Counselling taught by the City of Bristol College (CoBC) will no longer be awarded by the University of Bristol, although current cohorts registered on the programme will complete, with the final University of Bristol cohort completing in September 2013.

We are delighted that agreement has been reached between The University of Bristol and two other institutions for a programme to continue, with the University of Gloucestershire validating a Foundation Degree in Counselling to be delivered by the same team at the City of Bristol College, in Bristol.
