Congratulations to the Doctorate in Orthodontics Specialty Trainees

Congratulations to the students on the DDS programme who have successfully completed their specialty training & gained their Doctorate in Orthodontics. Prizes were awarded at an event on Friday 29th September.
Tarun Mittal – The Alumni Prize
Awarded to: Postgraduate student who has the best publication record as a result of the DDS Programme. Tarun had 6 publications with a further 3 in press.This prize is awarded by the Orthodontic Alumni.
Yasmin Kamarudin – The Orton Prize
Awarded to: Best overall academic performance by a postgraduate student in the Bristol University Orthodontic DDS/MOrth programme. This is a prize in memory of Harry Orton, OBE, who was an undergraduate Gold Medal Winner at Bristol Dental School and an eminent consultant orthodontist at Kingston Hospital. The winner of this prize is decided between the academic supervisors and the following criteria are incorporated into the decision: Performance in the DDS written examination; Presentation of the DDS dissertation and discussion with the external examiner; Defence of the DDS dissertation and discussion with the external examiner.
Emma McCartan – 3M Unitek Prize
Awarded to: Best overall clinician. This judgement is made on examination of cases submitted for the Membership in Orthodontics at the Royal Colleges of Surgeons. The cases will be reviewed for the quality of records, the complexity of the malocclusion and the final result. The judgement on these cases can be made by any of the Senior Staff and the overall winner decided on the accrued marks.
