Exam venues

You are responsible for arriving at your exam venue.
Buses are busy during exam time. Allow plenty of time.

Most exams are held in venues on the University campus. However in main exam periods we may also use some external venues including Coombe Dingle Sports Centre and the Passenger Shed (see travel information below).

How to get to Coombe Dingle Sports Centre

Find Coombe Dingle on our University Google map. Venue postcode: BS9 2BJ

Use the Travel west website or the Traveline South West Journey Planner to plan your journey by public transport.

Walking

Coombe Dingle is about 10 minutes walk from Hiatt Baker halls.

By bicycle

There are cycle hoops at Coombe Dingle Sports Centre to lock your bicycle to.

By bus

The Bristol Unibus U1 service travels directly from campus to the Stoke Bishop Transport Hub, which is about 10 minutes' walk from Coombe Dingle Sports Centre.

  • Students with a UoB Unibus Year pass travel free of charge on the U1 and Service 3.
  • If you show your Ucard (University ID card) you can receive a 30% discount on other First buses.
  • You may find the First Unibus and other First Bus timetable pages useful.

By train

Coombe Dingle is approximately 25 minutes walk from Sea Mills railway station on the Severn Beach Line. Use the Great Western Railway website to plan your journey.

By car

There is free parking at Coombe Dingle Sports Centre.

How to get to the Passenger Shed (Brunel's Old Station)

Find the Passenger Shed on our University Google map. Venue postcode is: BS1 6QH.

The Passenger Shed is next to Temple Meads Railway Station. The entrance is half way up the station approach, on the left hand side. Go through the entrance and wait on the raised platform on the right hand side as you enter.

The Passenger shed is about a 30 minutes walk from the main campus.

By bicycle

Bicycle hoops are in various places at Temple Meads but are extremely busy.

By bus

First services 9 and 72 travel directly from campus to Bristol Temple Meads.

  • Students with a UoB Unibus Year pass travel free of charge on the 9 and 72 during term time.
  • If you show your Ucard (University ID card) you can recieve a 30% discount on other First buses.

By train

Many local trains stop at Temple Meads Railway Station.
