Visa Checking Event

This is for all pre-sessional students who have a visa until 24 September and need to make a Tier 4 visa application for their next course.  Please attend at the time given in the Visa Checking Event Schedule (PDF, 118kB) for your class.  

Completing your online Tier 4 visa application form:

  • Differentiation arrangement - you will be asked if you wish to apply under the differentiation arrangement - please see the Pre-sessional Visa Handbook (above) for full details and a list of those nationals who are considered under this arrangment, to benefit from the streamlined visa process you must answer 'yes' if you are one of these nationals and then you will not be required to send qualifications, translations or financial documents. You must prepare these documents as the UKVI can request them. If the UKVI contacts you, you must contact us
  • Pilot students - please see the Pre-sessional Visa Handbook (above) for full details.  This is for Master’s students on programmes that are 13 months or less and can benefit from a streamlined visa process as you will not be required to send qualifications, translations or financial documents. You must prepare these documents as the UKVI can request them. If the UKVI contacts you, you must contact us
  • 28 day financial requirement - do not submit your visa application until you have held the required amount of money for at least 28 consecutive days - please see the Pre-sessional Visa Handbook (above) for full details

Before you attend the event:

  • Read the Pre-sessional Visa Handbook (above) to ensure that you are prepared for this event and bring the correct documents
  • You must have submitted your online Tier 4 visa application form - please remember to use the Student Visa Services address - see page 21 of the Pre-sessional Visa Handbook for details and copy it exactly - do not use auto fill
  • You must print and bring the following documents which will be available at the end of your completed online form – document checklist (2 copies) and a copy of the application form
  • You must bring your University certificate of registration and pre-registration checklist
  • You must bring all required documents for your visa application

Combined CASs

If you received a Combined CAS for the pre-sessional course and your main course of study, you should have a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) card. The BRP card is your visa and should be valid for the length of your course. If you have a BRP card for the length of the pre-sessional course and your main course of study, you will not need to make another visa application in September.
