Important announcement about lifelong learning.

With regret, the Faculty of Arts has announced that it will be withdrawing some lifelong learning provision at the end of this academic year, i.e. from summer 2009. This follows a review in light of the Government's withdrawal of funding for students who already hold an equivalent (or higher) level qualification (ELQ). The new funding rules mean that much of our activity in lifelong learning now operates at a substantial loss. After a year of considering its options, the Faculty has with deep regret reached the conclusion that it must discontinue some of its lifelong learning activity. We will continue to offer our part-time degrees in Archaeology and in English, together with associated short courses that act as tasters for these programmes.

Provision of courses in Archaeology will continue but from 2009-10 there will be no programmes in other subjects including Drama, History of Art, Historical Studies, Music, Philosophy and Theology.
