Xiaomei Yan
Xiaomei Yan, third year science education PhD student, has received a postgraduate travel grant from the University Alumni Office. The grant will enable Xiaomei to attend the European Science Education Research Association (ESERA) Summer School from 22-27 July 2012 in Bad Honnef, Germany.
I’m really looking forward to hearing about other PhD students’ research in science education, and the opportunity to receive critical feedback on my own work from other academic tutors.
At the biennial Summer School, small groups of six to nine PhD students will present their current research and will have opportunities for in-depth discussions with other students and two experienced researcher ‘coaches’. Lectures and workshops will also be provided by experienced tutors as well as informal networking opportunities.
Xiaomei Yan, who is supervised by Professor Sibel Erduran and Dr Federica Olivero from the Graduate School, comments: “I’m really looking forward to hearing about other PhD students’ research in science education, and the opportunity to receive critical feedback on my own work from other academic tutors.”
