The DSS provides summaries of key educational policy from the Department for Education (DFE) and Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) among others. It is one of the GSoE’s main resources for a wide range of educational professionals, including head teachers, governors and classroom teachers. It provides a monthly set of summaries no longer than two sides of A4 per summary covering up to date educational policy drawn from reports, statistical releases, statutory guidance and consultation documents. The service also produces the annual Bristol Guide, a comprehensive guide to key legislation for professional in schools.
I’m hoping to raise awareness amongst colleagues both in Universities and in schools of what is a unique and invaluable service.

A selection of free summaries is available on the DSS website each month in addition to the full mailing which paying subscribers can receive by post or email.
All summaries produced are also available on the GSoE intranet to all University staff and to schools who work in partnership with us on the PGCE course.
