Name Change - The School of Education

28 July 2017

For over a hundred years, the Graduate School of Education has been prominent in the development of educationists in the United Kingdom and around the world. Today, people from almost 50 different countries learn and teach at the School.

The School’s vibrant and diverse community of staff, researchers and students are helping to maintain its position as one of the leading schools of education in the UK. Recent University-wide student satisfaction survey ranked the School as amongst the top ten Schools in the University for overall student satisfaction. The results of the REF 2014 confirmed that we are one of the top ten leading UK centres for high quality and high impact research on education.

As the Graduate School of Education, the School has taught over 600 students in doctoral, masters’ and initial teacher education programmes each year. From September 2017, we will be welcoming our first cohort of undergraduate students, at the same time becoming the School of Education to reflect our new position. The addition of undergraduate students to our considerable range of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary courses will further enhance the School of Education’s place as a community of learners.
