Dr Guoxing Yu presents new research on using eye-trackers to examine IELTS test-takers’ cognitive processes

Dr Guoxing Yu, Reader in Language Education & Assessment, and Director of Centre for Assessment and Evaluation Research (CAER) presented his recently completed research on using eye-trackers to examine IELTS test-takers’ cognitive processes, as part of the Tobii Pro Research Spotlight Seminar Series.

His talk is now available on YouTube. 

Recent developments in eye tracking provide the field of language testing with enormous opportunities to understand test takers’ cognitive processes for the purposes of test validation and learning diagnosis. Currently Dr Yu is working on three eye-tracking studies:

Dr Yu is also supervising two PhD students who are writing up their eye-tracking studies. Both have won the British Council Assessment Research Awards.
