 Recent research work has included:

  • Review of arrangements for disagreement resolution (SEND) (2015-2017): Funded by the Department for Education, this important project reviewed the early implementation of the reformed disagreement resolution system required by the Children and Families Act 2014. The research report recommended changes to the system of resolving disagreements and provided insights into good practice for local authorities.

Biography

Ioanna is an educational psychologist interested in the educational and socio-emotional functioning of children and young people with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN). I am particularly interested in elements supporting oral language within the classroom and universal interventions that aim to address language inequalities in children and develop communication supporting schools.

Other educational research interests include special educational needs and disabilities across the lifespan (with an emphasis on SLCN and autism), parenting support and education, interventions in the early years and interventions targeting mental health needs in schools and other educational settings.
