Mrs Jean Dourneen


Jean Dourneen joined the Graduate School of Education in September 2006, having taught for 27 years in secondary schools in Dorset, North Somerset and Somerset. 

Since joining the Graduate School of Education, Jean has worked closely with the other PGCE English University Tutors to continue to develop this rigorous, creative, successful course.  She has also taught on the MSc Education, Technology and Society programme. Her research has been closely connected with the teaching of English and the development of student teachers. In February 2011 she was awarded NATE's Terry Furlong Award for Research for the paper she presented at their annual conference. She has been a member of NATE's Post-16 and Higher Education Committee.

In August 2009 Jean took on the role of PGCE Programme Director which she relinquished to take up the role of Director of Teacher Education in September 2013. 

Jean is currently School Education Director and Director of Teacher Education.
