Centre for Psychology and Learning in Context (CPLiC)

The Centre's research activities focus on the application of knowledge from psychology to education, with a specific emphasis on the investigation of learning in a number of different contexts. Many factors influence learning; our research aims to investigate how internal factors, such as neurological and psychological processes, interact with external factors such as the school, home and culture of the learner. The centre also hosts the Neuroeducational Research Network (NEnet).

The research interests of members are wide-ranging, but are linked through a shared aim to increase our understanding of the psychological basis of education and to use this knowledge for the benefit of the educational process itself.

Our research also plays an important role in our teaching. Two Masters of Education (MEd) courses link directly to our research activities: the MEd in Psychology of Education and MEd in Special Education.
