Provisional Teaching Timetable

The University has a centralised approach to timetabling and at this stage the timetables published below are provisional. We appreciate the need for students to access timetable information at this stage of the admissions cycle and will only making changes in exceptional circumstances. In such instances the relevant students will be contacted.

Once term has officially started (1 October), all students, new and returning will have access to a personalised electronic timetable from your MyBristol portal.

Please do reference the electronic timetable for confirmed timetable and room information (please note that the rooms on the timetables below may have changed).

Master's Programmes

Teaching timetables for the 2018/19 academic year can be found below. There are presented by programme/pathway with units grouped by the Autumn term and Spring term.

These timetables are for information purposes ONLY at this stage. Further information on the selection of optional units and collecting any group preferences will be communicated separately nearer to the start of term. Please note, full time students will be expected to be available Monday to Friday 9AM to 7PM. Students with constraints on their availability will be given an opportunity to share this with us prior to the start of term.

As a School we are committed to meeting the needs of all students and acknowledge that many of our students are working professionals. The delivery of units, particularly core units does therefore alternate between day and twilight delivery annually.

MSc Education (No Specialism and Teaching and Learning)

Students registered on the MSc Education programme who have opted not to follow a specialised pathway have one core taught unit, Introduction to Educational Inquiry (EDUCM5000) (PDF, 104kB) which they must take. MSc Education (all other pathways)

The pathway timetables listed below provide the teaching information for core units.‌

Optional Units

All students on one of the above pathways will be required to take 40 credits of optional units in the Spring/Summer terms. Further details on the optional units available can be seen in the MSc Option Bank (last updated 6th Sept 2018) (PDF, 109kB)‌. Students will be asked to select these units in November 2018.

MSc Education Management

All students registered will need to take the Introduction to Educational Inquiry (EDUCM5000) core unit. The timetable for this can be found here: Introduction to Educational Inquiry (EDUCM5000) (PDF, 104kB)

The timetable listed below provides the teaching information for the remaining core units.

All students are required to take 20 credits of optional units in the Spring/Summer terms. Further details on the optional units available can be seen in the option bank timetable MSc Option Bank (last updated 6th Sept 2018) (PDF, 109kB)‌. ‌

Students will be asked to select these units in November 2018.

MSc Psychology of Education (BPS)

Students registered on this accredited programme are required to complete core units totaling 100 credits. The final 20 credits is optional from a specified list of BPS accredited units. The timetabling information for both core and option units can be found below.

MSc TESOL

Students registered on this programme are required to take four core units totaling 80 credits. The remaining 40 credits are acquired by selecting two optional units from a specified list. The timetabling information for both core and optional units can be found below.

MSc Educational Research

Students registered on this programme are required to take five core units totaling 80 credits. These units are also mandatory for PhD students and students from both programmes are taught jointly. Completion of optional units totaling 40 credits is the required and these can either be taken from the specialist optional units (Advanced Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences EDUCM0054 and Advanced Qualitative Research Methods in the social Sciences EDUCM0053) or from the School's Masters optional units MSc Option Bank (last updated 6th Sept 2018) (PDF, 109kB)‌. Professional Doctorate

EdD students are required to complete 2 core units totaling 60 credits. the remaining 80 credits are optional. The timetable below details the core and optional units being taught in the 2018/19 academic year and also details the optional units for 2019/20. The timetabling information for the 2018/19 academic year will be available in Spring 2019.
