The Energy Management Group is one of many research groups in the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering at the Bristol University Engineering Faculty.
The group's strengths lie in precisely controlling energy flows and converting electrical energy into other forms of energy. The group focuses on two main research themes and three research areas as shown below. The group has researched and developed electrical systems from ultra-efficient micro-power supplies to large electric vehicle drives and machines for power generation. The group also provides an application-focused research environment in which students can gain valuable Research & Development experience.
Research Themes
The group's research themes focus on improving energy efficiency:
Other areas of expertise include
Expertise
The group's expertise ranges from developing low power sensing for emerging systems to high power conversion and drive systems.
Facilities
The group maintains extensive laboratories, test facilities and equipment pools.
Personnel
The group's researchers are supported by technical specialists, and by researchers from a wide range of specialist areas in the faculty.
