Assessment and exams
You must complete formative and summative assessments for each unit.
Formative assessments are tutorial class essays and exercises. They are compulsory but don't contribute to your final grade. All incoming Erasmus students in the School of Economics, Finance and Management do the same number of formative assignments as Bristol students.
Summative assessments can be an end-of-unit final exam, a combination of final exam and summative coursework, or summative coursework alone and will deterime your final grade.
Please note that summative coursework that contributes to your final grade is separate from formative coursework.
Exam periods take place at the end of each teaching block (semester).
You must be able to attend all assessments held within exam periods.
- Teaching block one exam period: January Exam Period (JE) Monday 13 January - Friday 24 January 2020
- Teaching block two exam period: Summer Exam Period (SE) Monday 18 May - Friday 5 June 2020
If English is not your first language you can apply to take a translation dictionary into exams. The EFM Erasmus and Study Abroad Co-ordinator will contact you with further information as the exam period approaches.
