What our students say

Find out more about the experiences of some of our current and recent undergraduate students, and their experience of studying within the School of Economics, Finance and Management at the University of Bristol.

High quality teaching

Teaching is a core aspect of the University of Bristol's mission, and as such is a core element of our staff's role. Teaching is research led, and is delivered by leading researchers in their field.

Teaching is delivered through a mix of small group classes, large group lectures and exercise lectures, with a wide range of teaching styles to support a range of learning styles. On average, first year students receive approximately 17 contact hours per week.

The school constantly reviews the way in which different courses are taught and seeks to improve student learning by changing the teaching methods employed. This may involve changes to contact hours as well as to the balance between lectures, classes and other ways of learning.

Personal tutor system

On arrival at the University of Bristol, all undergraduate students are assigned a member of academic staff as a personal tutor.

The role of the personal tutor is to act as a first point of contact within the University from whom the individual tutee can obtain academic and pastoral support.
