Title: Entrepreneurship and the 'Mystery of the Whole': An Analysis of Robert Musil's The Man without Qualities
The paper I present will offer a critique of entrepreneurship as an all-encompassing order and desirable economic activity. Through a close analysis of Robert Musil’s novel The Man without Qualities, I will critically explore the advent of entrepreneurship and the ‘enterprising spirit’. The literary analysis of the novel problematises the normative underpinnings of early entrepreneurship studies and questions the heroisation and mystification of entrepreneurship and the entrepreneur. Focusing on the ambiguities, frictions and limits of entrepreneurship, this paper seeks to contribute to critical entrepreneurship studies in MOS.
