Career Concerns in Venture Capital Markets

Personal profile

I have been a Teaching Associate in Economics in the School of Economics, Finance and Management at the University of Bristol, UK since 2015. In the past I have been a Teaching Assistant in Economics in the School of Economics, Finance and Management at the University of Bristol, UK between 2013 and 2015.

I obtained my PhD from the University of Bristol in 2017, with the support of an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) scholarship. I received an MSc in Behavioural and Economic Science (Economics Track) from the University of Warwick and a BSc in Economics from the University of Athens. To date, I have presented my research at Economics conferences in the UK and the Czech Republic.

In 2011, I did an internship in Enterprise Greece (formerly known as Invest in Greece Agency). I speak Greek and English fluently, German at advanced level and Italian at intermediate level. Software knowledge:STATA, MATLAB, R, MS Office and Latex.

Research

My research seeks to improve our understanding in the decision-making process of venture capital organizations and entrepreneurial firms and to explain how their relationships with their investors affect the venture capitalists' investment decisions.

Using large-sample empirical research and field-based case studies, I construct theoretical models that examine the restrictions, compensation schemes, dynamics and incentive structures in venture capital markets.

My focus is on identifying the control mechanisms employed and the determinants of their investment behaviour.
