Personal profile

Babak Somekh is a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Economics Department of the School of Economics, Finance and Management.  Previously he was a Lecturer in Economics at the University of Haifa, Israel.  Prior to his academic career Babak spent four years working as an analyst at Morgan Stanley working in high yield and commodity markets. 

Babak holds a BSc in Economics and Information Systems and an MA in Economics from New York University.  He obtained his MPhil and DPhil in Economics from the University of Oxford.  Babak's research is based on the role of income inequality in market outcomes, focusing particularly on financial services and spatial competition.
