Research

My research lies in two key areas: 1) the political economy of the transformation of labour, management and organisation in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union;  and 2) comparative study of the political economy of precarisation (e.g. in-work poverty, insecurity, flexibilisation) of labour in Europe. I have looked at changes in work and employment in both traditional industries and the ‘new economy’, as these are influenced by the global political economy. Based in sociology, cultural anthropology, economic geography and political economy, I have pursued a research programme that is cross-disciplinary, methodologically heterodox, critical in scope.
