    Abstract

Management and organization design issues, in five UK construction organizations, in introducing service delivery, based on teamworking practices in construction projects are discussed. The challenges faced by industry in transitioning from prioritizing an asset delivery focus to a service delivery focus (SDF), especially in delivering private finance initiative and public private partnership types of project are also discussed. It is pointed out that teamworking is the main key to coordinate design for service delivery across projects, functions and organizations. It is suggested that there is a need to take cultural research perspective that engages with the network of relationships, to complement the traditionally technical emphasis.
