The Faculty of Engineering is creating a new open-plan learning environment that will transform the faculty and help train the next generation of innovators and engineers.
We provide a creative and varied research-led education, from research projects devised by students to research and industry-led small-group seminar courses.
Our courses and research activity are shaped at all stages by the emerging needs of industry. We have established lasting global partnerships with other leading universities and industry.
Our students are encouraged to be innovative and entrepreneurial. By challenging existing practices, they gain the skills and confidence to become leaders in their chosen fields.
Engineering placed 4th nationally for research power. The REF panel judged Bristol to be in the top ten in the UK, noting 'outstanding case studies across many aspects of Engineering activity.'
93% of Engineering research (UoA15, including Aerospace, Civil, Electrical and Electronic, Engineering Maths and Mechanical Engineering) was judged to be 'world leading' or 'internationally excellent'.
87% of Computer Science research (UoA11) was judged to be 'world leading' or 'internationally excellent'.
