Dr Adam Crewe

Dr Crewe currently teaches 2 courses:

The main focus of my undergraduate teaching activities is in structures and design across all 4 years of the Civil engineering courses at Bristol. This gives me the opportunity to use my design experience from when I was in industry in the classroom.

Since 1994 I have been also been involved with many different methods of promoting earthquake engineering activities to the general public.  These have included public talks, exhibitions and demonstrations, talks in schools, and more recently the development of the IDEERS (Introducing and Demonstrating Earthquake Engineering Research in Schools) competition.  The IDEERS project involved the creation of a website all about earthquake engineering,  in conjunction with a national competition to design an earthquake resistant building for testing on the shaking table at Bristol.  The IDEERS project has involved many schools and many of the schools who have participated have now incorporated the material into their courses.
