Dr George T Kanellos, a former Senior Research Fellow of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, moves to the University of Bristol to become a lecturer within the High Performance Network Group.
The High Performance Network Group, within the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Bristol, has welcomed Dr George Kanellos as a new lecturer.
George joins us from the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where he was a Senior Research Fellow, having previously achieved a PhD in Photonics Communications at the National Technical University of Athens.
Dr Kanellos’ current research focuses on exploiting recent advancements of photonic integration to introduce radically new architectural approaches and concepts in Datacom and Computercom, to tackle key physical layer technological challenges for increasing throughput, reducing latency and power consumption across all levels of Data Centre and Computing interconnection. Previously, George worked on routing and switching technologies for telecom applications, before moving on to investigating the design of integrated optical components and subsystems and their application to computer architecture and networking.
When asked, George initially claimed that the British weather was what had motivated him to move from Greece with his wife and two children, before sharing the excitement of having an opportunity to work within one of the world’s leading laboratories at the cutting edge of networking technologies.
