Work experience for Year 10 pupils

A week of group activities on campus to help you get a powerful understanding of life at university and the careers you can pursue afterwards.

  • Do you want to make a difference in the world?
  • Are you interested in technology and how it will affect our future?
  • Are you thinking about studying A-level Mathematics after your GCSEs?

We welcome talented and enthusiastic Year 10 pupils to join us for a week of work experience.

Have you ever wondered what it is like to work in a team and solve some of the critical issues humanity faces? Creative problem-solving can make a real difference in the world.  To find out how,  you can apply for a week of group activities involving mathematics, computing, and engineering (no previous programming experience needed).

In addition to the group activities, you will develop important employability skills like communication and teamwork, gain an insight into subjects taught in the Faculty of Engineering and hear first-hand from our students and Alumni about life at university and beyond.

Girls in Engineering

If you identify as female and are interested in any of our engineering or computing subjects we are particularly keen for you to take part.

Some of the world’s best mathematicians, engineers and technologists are female, and the University of Bristol is proud to encourage and support more women in engineering fields at university and beyond. We aim to allocate an even number of work-experience places to male/female applicants each year.

What subjects does the Faculty of Engineering cover?

While we cover traditional engineering areas like civil and mechanical engineering, we focus on a range of other areas as well, including a lot of work with digital and tech industries. Explore our Engineering subjects.
