Dr Majid Taghavi



Majid Taghavi received his B.Sc in Electronic Engineering from K.N.Toosi University of Technology, Tehran, Iran in 2006. He then continued his studies on Design of Analog Integrated Circuit in Tabriz University, Iran in 2009, concentrating his research on MEMS area. He joined the Micro-BioRobotics center of IIT in Nov 2010, pursuing his graduate studies at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa, Italy, where he worked on Energy harvesting systems and Self-Powered Devices.  He received Ph.D. degree in BioRobotics with honor on Oct 2014, and continued his research in the Micro-BioRobotics center of IIT as a PostDoc, focusing on Soft Tactile Sensors. Majid joined the University of Bristol in June 2016 working on wearable soft robotics for independent living. He is now senior research associate on EPSRC platform grant (SoRo for Health) pursuing his interests in soft robotics, transducers, and smart materials/structures.
