I am a member of the CSN and DHE research groups and I am affiliated with Crypto. I am also a member of the Smart Internet Lab.

A large part of my research takes place as part of SPHERE, an EPSRC IRC on the development of sensors for the home to diagnose and help manage health and wellbeing conditions. The technology will aid early diagnosis, lifestyle change and the ability of patients to live at home. I am managing Work Package 6 (Integration and design of the overall network architecture) and contributing to Work Pakages 1 and 3 (environmental and body area sensing).

Previously, I was CoI for RERUM (FP7/2007-2013 grant n° 609094) on the design and implementation of a security framework for the IoT, driven by the requirements of Smart City applications.

I was also affiliated with the (now concluded) ForToo project, an ISEC 2010 action grant on the development of advanced forensic tools against Internet abuse, with focus on forensic analysis of android devices and wireless sensors.

Over the past few years I have also been working on large-scale, IPv6-enabled Wireless Sensor Networks and the Internet of Things. I have been conducting research and development on real sensor deployments, focusing on aspects such as multicasting; congestion control, routing, over-air programming and code dissemination. For this work I have been using the Contiki embedded Operating System.

Open Source Software

I am a co-founder, steering group member and maintainer of Contiki-NG, the next generation, open source operating system for the IoT. I have contributed the code which adds support for IPv6 / 6LoWPAN multicast and I am maintaining the hardware port port for the Texas Instruments CC2538 and CC13xx/CC26xx Cortex M3-based SoCs.

I am also the inventor of Sensniff, an open source "Live Traffic Capture and Sniffer for IEEE 802.15.4 networks", and one of the collaborators with cc2538-bsl, an open source serial boot loader project.
