Research summary

Research interests have included network reliability; interference identification, avoidance and management; adaptive MAC protocols with QoS support and practical applications of formal mathematical methods. Also involved with some (hobby level) hands-on programming and electronics with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.

Participated in 3GPP standardisation for next generation ("5G") cellular and Machine Type Communications (M2M/IoT); previously contributed to IEEE 802.11ax (HEW) and the oneM2M Release 1 specifications. Biography

Dr. Russell J. Haines is now an Institute of Physics Scholar, undertaking a PGCE to train as a secondary education Science (Physics) teacher.

He holds a first-class BEng(Hons) degree and a PhD from the University of Bristol. He is a a Chartered Engineer and a Chartered Manager, and has been awarded Fellowship of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Fellowship of the Chartered Management Institute, and Senior Membership of both the IEEE and ACM.
