MATILDA aims to devise and realise a radical shift in the development of software for 5G-ready applications, as well as virtual and physical network functions and network services, through the adoption of a unified programmability model, the definition of proper abstractions and the creation of an open development environment that may be used by application as well as network functions’ developers.

The MATILDA project vision is as follows:

(1)  To design and develop a holistic framework that supports the tight interconnection among the development of 5G-ready applications

(2)  The creation of the on-demand required networking and computational infrastructure in the form of an application-aware network slice

(3)  The activation of the appropriate networking mechanisms for the support of the industry vertical applications.
