Dr Matthews gives the Tennyson Society Annual Lecture

On 26th May Dr Samantha Matthews gave the Tennyson Society Annual Lecture, which was held at Bishop Grosseteste University College, Lincoln. Her subject was 'Tennyson and Handwriting: the "clean fair hand" and the "damn pen"'. Dr Matthews is the holder of a British Academy Mid-Career Fellowship for a one-year research project 'The Album Poem and Nineteenth-Century Manuscript Culture'. Her lecture for the Tennyson Society presented work in progress from that project. 'Tennyson and Handwriting' will be published in the next issue of The Tennyson Research Bulletin, in November 2012.
