International Students
Welcome from the Head of Centre
Welcome to the Centre for Exercise, Nutrition and Health Sciences. We are a well established Centre with an international reputation for our teaching and research in physical activity, nutrition and community health. We have a long tradition of recruiting international students to study here and have strong links with universities in Greece, Spain, Portugal, France, and most Scandinavian countries. Students from USA, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, Japan, India and China have also successfully graduated from our programmes.
We welcome international students to study on our Masters course or for an MPhil or PhD.
We have approximately 60 full and part time students studying on these courses. Please read more about us and the courses - we hope that you will find something to interest you.

Our students tell us that we are successful in recognising the special study needs of international students. Often international students need time to shift from a very structured learning style to one where they have more freedom to chose topics and develop their profile of academic skills. At the same time we are sensitive that being a long way from home often brings a different set of challenges. Some of us have been in the same position. However, Bristol is a great place to be, with many communities of international students and most settle down quickly.
The University has an International Office, and the International Students' Advisory Service is based there to help all international students to get the most out of their time at Bristol. They provide a support service to help you study successfully. The Pre-arrival Guide for International Students [828Kb, PDF] should also answer most of your questions. You may also like to take a look at Across the Pond, which recruits students for UK universities.
Additionally, the university has its own Language Centre which offers excellent summer courses in English in July, August and September to help you tune up your spoken and written English so that you will be ready for study when the courses start in October.
There is also an International Librarian to offer extra support to international students, for example, 1:1 sessions or classes on information literacy.
If you would like to make email contact with a student from your own country who has studied with us in the past or if you have any questions please contact Andrea Osborn, our postgraduate student administrator, who will be happy to help.
