• How do I become a Project OPAL participant?

Thank you for your interest in our work.  Because Project OPAL was a scientific research study, we had to recruit volunteers in particular ways.  We had to use strict techniques to try and reach a representative sample of the general public.  We have now finished recruiting for the main OPAL study.

• Are there other ways I can get involved?

Yes.  If we haven't already approached you to become one of participants, there are other ways to help.  We are always extremely grateful for advice on how to spread the word about our research.  We welcome feedback about the content of this website, or about the experience of participating.  We also hope to progress plans to build on Project OPAL, OPAL-Plus and AVONet.  We are particularly interested in strengthening our ties with user-groups and receiving input from service-users.  There may be scope for helping us in some way with these future projects and developments.

Finally, the charities we work with are usually extremely grateful for offers of voluntary help.
