Plastics
You can recycle all of your plastic in plastic recycling bins located throughout the University, usually in communal areas such as cafeterias and staff kitchens.
In 2013 we expanded the range of plastics that can be recycled to include ALL plastics as detailed below:

1. PETE |
Plastic bottles (fizzy drink, juice, condiment, water), bottle tops, salad trays, oven meal trays

2. HDPE |
Milk bottles, washing up liquid bottles, bleach bottles, cleaning product bottles, detergent bottles, shampoo bottles, cleaned 25 litre containers, other cleaned ‘rigid plastics’ from laboratories, workshops etc.

3. PVC |
Pipes, fittings, furniture
|
|
4. LDPE |
Carrier bags, bin liners and packaging films |
|
5. PP |
Plastic cups, margarine tubs, microwaveable meal trays
|
|
6. PS |
Yoghurt pots, plastic cutlery, plastic cups, CD cases. foam food boxes, foam cups Protective packaging, EPS, CD cases.

Please ensure plastic is clean before you place it into recycling bins. Please continue to recycle laboratory polystyrene through the special collection system
Please ensure that all food tubs are rinsed and bottles and cups are empty before placing them in the recycling bins.
