The University expects the highest standard of behaviour from its staff and for all staff to be aware of how their behaviour can affect others. To achieve this standard it is the general expectation that all members of staff, including others who may be working on behalf of the University, will behave in an acceptable manner - treating others with courtesy, respect and consideration – and conducting themselves professionally when interacting with members of the University community. The Acceptable Behaviour policy provides a framework within which instances of unacceptable behaviour can be addressed and resolved.

The University expects that members of staff will conduct themselves in a professional and acceptable manner when interacting with and influencing others, or when managing colleagues. Frameworks setting out the expectations that the University has of its staff in terms of workplace behaviours have been developed:
Leadership Attributes set out the behaviours expected of managers at the University.
Professional Behaviours provide guidance on key and valued behaviours that should be observed when interacting with and influencing others, or when managing colleagues. The Professional Behaviours are also available as a document that can be downloaded to form the basis of meetings held under this policy.
The University has a network of Acceptable Workplace Behaviour Advisers who staff can contact to confidentially discuss issues connected to workplace behaviour.
The University is committed to providing a fair, equitable and supportive learning and teaching environment for its students where individuals are equally valued and respected. The University will not tolerate bullying, harassment or victimisation of any individual on any account and will take allegations seriously, investigating them carefully and dealing with them appropriately.
