University acquires Augustine’s Courtyard

Augustine's Courtyard

12 April 2017

Following on the recent announcement that the University had leased space in Great George Street, the office building Augustine’s Courtyard has now been purchased. The building has 31,000 square feet of newly renovated office space and like Great George Street, will be used for the decanting of Professional Services staff currently located in and around Tyndall Avenue.

Patrick Finch, Bursar and Director or Estates, commented:

“Augustine’s Courtyard is a very high quality office building, located close to Bristol City Centre. It should prove to be a popular location for staff, with good access to transport routes including the new Metrobus and to the City Centre and adjacent shopping areas. The building is of high specification and we are now working on proposals to fit it out for use by a number of Professional Services departments. There is a dearth of good quality office space available in the area around the Clifton Campus and we are very pleased to have secured this building.”

The ongoing move of Professional Services staff from a range of buildings is intended to open up‌ the space needed to deliver a range of new initiatives set out in the University Strategy. The University envisages the repurposing of Senate House as a student focused building located alongside the proposed new library. The acquisition of these office buildings represents a first step in that direction.
