Timescales for Approval of Units and Programmes

The University approved Annual Education and Students Cycle can be found on the Academic Registry Policies, Guidance and Procedures webpage.

This document has been expanded and now includes the timescales for approving unit and programme information.

Please note that the deadline for approving new units and any change to units is mid-March (the end of Week 19). This is in order to improve the student experience by allowing us to use systems whereby students can select their unit choices for the next academic year online and efficiently timetable our unit information to produce student level timetables. You will therefore need to work back from the key Programme Approval Group and Education Committee dates to work out when you need to get proposals through your School and Faculty committees.

The following are the key dates from the Education and Students Cycle specific to approval:

9 January 2012	Programme Approval Group. Relevant proposals to go to Education Committee on 25 Jan (recommended deadline for approval of new PG programmes and major changes to UG and PG programmes including new mandatory units for 2012/13.)
6 February 2012	Programme Approval Group. Deadline for approval of new PG programmes and major changes to UG and PG programmes including new mandatory units for 2012/13. Relevant proposals to go to Education Committee on 29 February.
12 March 2012	Deadline for the updating of units in the online Unit Catalogue for 2012/13 Exceptionally consider for approval of new PG programmes and major changes to UG and PG programmes including new mandatory units for 2012/13 Deadline for Faculty approval of changes to optional units and new optional units Programme Approval Group. Relevant proposals to go to Education Committee on 28 March
30 April 2012	Programme Approval Group. Relevant proposals to go to Education Committee on 23 May
21 May 2012	Programme Approval Group. Deadline for the approval of new UG programmes for 2013/14
