In Enterprise Manager go to: System Administration > Groups. On the left hand side select 'Create new' and give a name to your group.
Include the UoB unit identifier in the group name if possible, as name such as 'part time' or 'Y1' might get confused with other courses. The following characters should not be used in group names: " ' & / \ , £ | < > : (double quote, single quote, back slash, forward slash, comma, british pound, pipe, less than, greater than, colon).
See Questionmark product guide: creating groups for further information.
We recommended that users who don't need to use the system are removed (please note this doesn't affect the participant results because these are archived separately).
Administrators of users and assessment on Questionmark Perception should also be aware of the 'annual life cycle of administration' which provides a list of activities that need to be completed at the start, during, and at the end of the academic year.
Questionmark perception is not currently integrated with SITS, so all participants need to imported onto the system by administrators.
For 'id' you should use the participant's UoB username. This will allow them to login using their usual UoB username and password (using the single sign-on system).
Instead of using the UoB login as an ID, you will need to invent one. Try to make it something that will be unique and won't be the same as anyone's UoB login (if it's at least 8 characters long you should be safe). Guest participants need to use the "Guest login" link on the Questionmark homepage.
Follow the instructions provided in the QMP administration lifecycle to format the CSV file.
Go to: Administration > Participants > Import. We recommend you check "Generate passwords randomly" to make accounts more secure (UoB participants will not need to use this password).
See also Importing Participants in Questionmark's own guide.
Go to Administration > Participants > Create Individual (or you can select Create Multiple if you need to create a set of accounts)
See also Creating Participants in Questionmark's own guide.
In Questionmark, people who can manage users in Enterprise Manager can see those users passwords. For UoB users this doesn't matter: they'll be using single-sign-on and you won't be able to see their UoB passwords. For guest users, if they set their own password you should make them aware that you will be able to see it.
This means that the participant is already on the system so you just need to add them to your group. Go to Participants and search for your user by ID. Then double click on the participant's record and in "Group membership" click on the grey dotted box to add/remove group memberships.
This means that the group has been created by another administrator but you have not been given access to it. Please email e-learning@bristol.ac.uk with a request to access the group, your username, and the group name.
This is necessary for email broadcasting, which allows you to automatically populate email with details of the assessment (schedule, url, etc). We recommend that you do enter the email address, but it's not strictly necessary if you are using other ways to communicate with the students (Blackboard, your personal email, etc).
Setting up schedules involves making the assessment available to an individual or a group of students. In order to set up a schedule you will need to have the following details ready: name of the test, number of attempts, override time limit (how long participants should have to take the test, if different from the default for that test), access period (when the test will be available). You should also decide whether you will announce the test by emailing the participants from within Questionmark.
Access Enterprise Manager > Go to System administration > Individual/Groups > Select an individual or a group > Click on Schedule on the left hand side to open the Scheduling window.
See also Questionmark product guide: creating schedules.
In order to give extra time to an individual participant (rather than a group) you will first need to set up individual schedules rather than one group schedule. You do this by selecting the option 'create a schedule for each participant' when you first schedule the test. If that has been done you will be able to open the participant's schedule and select the option 'Override time limit'. If the assessment time is 30 minutes and the student has an extra 7.5 minutes allowed than you should enter 38 minutes (it is not possible to enter half a minute). If you have a group of participants who need the same amount of extra time we recommend you put them in a separate group to make scheduling easier.
If I delete a schedule will the assessment results be deleted?
No, schedules are independent from results, and therefore results are not deleted when you delete a schedule. We recommend you delete the schedules as soon as they become 'inactive' as this makes management easier for you and can improve the performance of the whole system.
If you have set an access period for the test, check that you are within the dates and times specified. If that is not the problem, check that the test has been scheduled for you. If you created a group schedule, check that you are a member of the group. You can add yourself to a group by simply searching your username in the 'Participants' screen and adding the required group membership. If you created individual schedules, check that there is an individual schedule for you.
Yes, as you have selected 'create a schedule for each participant in the group'. If you had created a whole-group schedule you would't need to reschedule when you add a new participant.
This is a security feature for invigilated exams. If selected, at the beginning of the asseesment the participant will be prompted by a login screen where the administrator needs to enter their Questionmark username and password to enable the participant to start. You should think very carefully about the extra staff time needed before using this setting.
The resume button indicates that the assessment has been started but it has not been submitted. Resuming the assessment in fact means restarting the assessment: it doesn't remember the time you have allocated to complete the assessment or the questions you have already answered. To be able to save the answers without submitting the test you will need to enable the 'save as you go' function, contact e-learning@brsitolac.uk to discuss your needs.
Email broadcasting allows you to send participants an email with information about an assessment. The email can be automatically populated with information about the participant and the assessment.
See Questionmark product guide: email broadcasting for more information.
There are many ways of contacting your students at UoB. For Questionmark assessments we've found it's usually easiest to use Questionmark email broadcasts and/or create a content area in Blackboard (with instructions about the test and a link to the participant login).
This happens if the student has the UoB email redirected to a Yahoo or Hotmail account. Third party email clients are considered insecure and should not be used for University communication. Students should be using their UoB account and should not have redirected their email to their private account.
See Questionmark product guide: scheduling for further information.
