University School Reviews (formerly Departmental Reviews)

University School Reviews are carried out on a five or six yearly basis to assure the University that its schools are of a high quality in teaching and research and that they are working efficiently in terms of staffing and financial matters.

The review identifies areas for improvement and, where necessary provides schools with the appropriate support to make changes.

A review panel visits the school concerned,  meeting with staff and students. The panel also look at a range of documents, the most important being the self-evaluation document produced by the school. The panel is chaired by a Pro Vice-Chancellor and includes external members.

A report is agreed by the panel and forwarded to the Head of School, the Dean of Faculty and the University Planning and Resources Committee for action.
