Undergraduate study

We guide students towards an understanding of the questions that drive contemporary psychology research, rather than focusing purely on the historical facts. Our world-class research portfolio, and with lectures delivered by researchers, gives students direct access to the latest thinking in the discipline.

Our courses

Psychology at Bristol embraces an experimental framework that focuses largely, but not exclusively, on the importance of hypothesis-driven, testable ideas to understanding mind and behaviour.

We expect our students to learn about the academic disciplines that allow progress in psychological research through an appreciation of the scientific method.

Our teaching is flexible and offers different experiences and formats to guide student learning.

You will develop your skills in presentations and academic discourse through small group tutorials, seminars and mini-conferences throughout your degree.

School seminars, a staff-student committee and the student-led Psychological Society (PsychSoc on Facebook) provide further opportunities outlets for discussion, suggestions and academic and social discourse.
