Research summary

During my thesis, my research has had two focuses. First, I have been interested in how top-down influences related to disease avoidance can affect low-level processes in distance and tactile perception. Second, I have been interested in the evolutionary explanations of stigma, prejudice, and intergroup conflict. Specifically, how the over-inclusive nature of disease avoidance can motivate aversive responses towards individuals who infer disease threat, despite no objective threat being present.
