Dr Sarah Jelbert

I recieved my first degree in Psychology from the University of Oxford, followed by a masters in Evolutionary and Comparative Psychology from the University of St Andrews. I later moved to New Zealand, gaining my PhD from the Univesity of Auckland. Here, I studied the evolution of tool use in animals, conducting field research in New Caledonia to investigate the cognitive abilities of tool-using New Caledonian crows.

I held a post-doctoral position at the University of Cambridge in Comparative and Developmental Psychology, before moving to Bristol in 2018. After a short spell as a start-up director amid Bristol's scientific start-up scene, I began working at the University of Bristol in September 2019.
